Kjetil has worked several year at the central bank, with various responsibilities in financial stability, payment system area, including heading policy, operation, licensing, supervision and oversight activities. Recently mostly engaged with analysis in the CBDC  and crypto area. 

Norges Bank is the Norwegian central bank, with responsibility to promote financial and monetary stability and a safe and efficient payment system, according to the Central Bank act. Norges Bank is owned by the state but organized as a separate legal entity.

In this presentation, Kjetil Watne will introduce the CBDC exploration project at Norges Bank, focusing on a recent decision concerning whether the central bank should issue a CBDC, as well as insights from advanced technical and functional testing conducted in a blockchain-based technological sandbox.
